ISO 17100:2015 is an internationally recognized standard for translation services that was created to establish a universally accepted benchmark. It's a process standard that sets requirements for the translation process, but doesn't define the quality of the work.

Here are some things ISO 17100:2015 covers:

Requirements for professionals: Translators and reviewers must meet at least one of the following criteria:

Have a college degree in translation or interpretation

Have a recognized college degree

Have a college degree in a related field and at least two years of translation experience

Have worked as a professional translator for at least five years

Requirements for translation companies: Translation companies must have a reliable project management system.

Requirements for the translation process: The standard lays out requirements for every professional involved in the translation process, from start to finish.

ISO 17100:2015 is a certification designed for use in the translation industry. It's developed, published, and maintained by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), a non-governmental organization based in Geneva.
